Where to Sit to See Mt Fuji on the Tokaido Shinkansen
The easiest rule is simple: westbound from Tokyo, ordinary car E seat. Eastbound toward Tokyo, ordinary car A seat.

Seeing Mt Fuji from the Shinkansen is one of the classic rail moments in Japan. It appears for only a short window, so the seat and timing matter.

- Westbound from Tokyo, the mountain side is on the right.
- In ordinary cars, the right-side window seat is E.
